Morgenster Olive Oils

ImageThe Morgenster Extra Virgin Olive Oil was the first South African olive oil to receive the prestigious Orciolo d'Oro award. This Italian challenge was opened to foreign producers for the first time in 1999. In 2003, for the 5th consecutive year, our olive oil has won in it's category. This is a clear testimony to the philosophy of quality at every stage of production. The oil is cold pressed, entirely natural, contains no additives or preservatives and is neither filtered nor refined.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Morgenster Extra Virgin Olive Oil is locally produced from olive trees planted on the historical Morgenster Estate in Somerset West. The oil is a blend of five different olive varieties, grown especially for the production of oil. The different cultivars were imported from Italy, propagated in hothouses on the estate and planted on the Morgenster slopes. The premium quality of the Morgenster Extra Virgin Oil is testimony to the philosophy of quality at every stage of production. The oil is cold-pressed, entirely natural, contains no additives, filtering or refining. The oil is stored in stainless steel tanks at the optimum temperature of 14 degrees Celsius. The taste is fresh, with a full-bodied texture. The acidity is less than a 0.5g per 100g. It has a slight peppery after-taste, the sign of a quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

White Truffle Olive Oil - White truffles are a cross between a mushroom and a potato and can be enjoyed thinly sliced on Italian staples like pastas and risottos. Harvesting is a time-honoured art, practiced by handlers with specially trained dogs who sniff out the forest gems. And at R25 000 for one kilogram, they can certainly be described as a delicacy! To produce the White Truffle Oil, Morgenster imported white truffle concentrate from Piedmont and blended it with their extra virgin olive oil - a truly classic match!

Rozendal Vinegar

Natural Red Wine Vinegar Matured Ten Years in Oak Barrels (macerated with grape must and lavender)

Since 1994, no chemicals or artificial fertilizers have been used on Rozendal Farm. Wine is made biologically, without filtration and is matured (not aged) for two years in barrels at different temperatures. Since 2001, Rozendal has farmed biodynamically.

This vinegar is made from good wine in a natural way, macerated with grape must and lavender, and is matured for not less than ten years in small wooden barrels.
